Bombardier Announces Executive Leadership Changes

Bombardier has appointed Jim Vounassis as Chief Operating Officer for Bombardier Transportation, effective immediately. Vounassis will oversee global operations, quality, and procurement, tasking him with managing the company’s $35 billion rail backlog. He transitions from his previous role leading the company’s transformation and procurement divisions.

Following the completion of the first half of a five-year turnaround plan, Sylvain Lévesque has announced his resignation. His responsibilities will be absorbed by Louis Véronneau, who will add strategic planning to his current duties in mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships. Véronneau has previously led negotiations on major deals, including the C Series partnership with Airbus.

Additionally, Group Chief Procurement Officer Nico Buchholz is set to retire this summer. Buchholz, who joined the company in 2015, was instrumental in the cost-restructuring efforts surrounding the C Series project. CEO Alain Bellemare stated that these organizational changes are intended to focus the company on sustainable growth moving forward.
