Bombardier Global 8000 Cleared for London City Airport Landings

Bombardier's Global 8000 business jet has received approval from the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to land at London City Airport (LCY). This designation, effective immediately, allows the aircraft to connect directly from key international destinations like Singapore, Los Angeles, and Buenos Aires to downtown London.

The London City Airport is known for its steep approach and short runway, presenting a challenging operational environment. The Global 8000's advanced wing design, including leading-edge slats, and robust braking systems enable its performance in these demanding conditions. This approval offers significant time savings for passengers by eliminating the need for transfers from more distant airports, potentially reducing ground travel time by up to 90 minutes.

The Global 8000 features a top speed of Mach 0.95 and a range of 8,000 nautical miles. Bombardier states it is the fastest civil aircraft since Concorde, offering the longest range and lowest cabin altitude in business aviation production. The aircraft previously secured type certification from Transport Canada, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
