Bombardier raises free cash flow forecast after strong Q1 results

Bombardier Inc. has announced strong first-quarter results for fiscal year 2026, exceeding expectations and leading to an upward revision of the company's full-year free cash flow forecast. The company reported revenues of $1.6 billion, a 5% increase year-over-year, primarily driven by its robust service business.

During the first quarter, Bombardier generated $360 million in free cash flow, a substantial $664 million improvement compared to the same period last year. This strong performance has prompted Bombardier to raise its free cash flow projection for 2026 to over $1.0 billion. Service revenues surged by 25% to $617 million, bolstered by significant demand, particularly for its Global 8000 aircraft.

The company's order backlog grew by $2.8 billion since the end of fiscal year 2025, reaching a total of $20.3 billion as of March 31, 2026. This increase was fueled by strong demand from fleet operators and for the Global 8000 model, resulting in a new orders-to-deliveries ratio of 3.6x for the quarter. Bombardier also announced a further $150 million debt reduction.

President and CEO Éric Martel stated that the company's excellent start to fiscal year 2026 reflects favorable market conditions and its product portfolio. "This demonstrates the strength of our business and the solid foundation we have built," Martel said. Bombardier also reaffirmed its other key financial guidance for the year.
