Bombardier to Supply Global 6500 Aircraft for South Korean Special Missions
Bombardier Defense will provide two Global 6500 aircraft for South Korea's Electronic Warfare program, adding to a previous order for four planes in an airborne early warning role.
Bombardier Inc. announced that its defense division, Bombardier Defense, will supply two Bombardier Global 6500 aircraft for South Korea's new Electronic Warfare (EW) program. This contract follows an October 2025 announcement of an order for four Global 6500 aircraft for Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) missions.
Korean Air has formalized its purchase of the aircraft, signing the agreement with Bombardier Defense in Seoul. The Global 6500 platform was selected for both programs due to its performance, adaptability, and reliability, meeting the evolving requirements of modern air forces.
The two additional Global 6500 aircraft will be utilized for Electronic Warfare missions, specifically stand-off jamming (SOJ), to disrupt enemy electromagnetic signals from a safe distance. The aircraft's long range and high-altitude operational capability are well-suited for South Korea's demanding defense needs.
