Bonduelle Clarifies Product Ingredient Practices
Bonduelle has released a FAQ and glossary to clarify its product ingredients and nutritional practices, addressing consumer questions on salt, sugar, and preservatives.

Bonduelle, a global leader in plant-based foods, has published a comprehensive Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and glossary section on its website to address consumer inquiries regarding product ingredients, nutritional content, and sustainable practices.
The company clarified that its canned vegetables contain no preservatives. Shelf life is achieved through blanching, hermetic sealing, and a sterilization process that eliminates microorganisms, noting that current regulations do not require preservatives for canned vegetables.
Regarding salt content, Bonduelle explained that many vegetables are naturally high in sodium. The company stated that its fresh bagged salads and basic frozen vegetables have no added salt, with the labeled amount reflecting the vegetables' natural sodium levels. For "prepared" products like ready-made meals and vegetable mixes, maximum salt thresholds have been in place since 2008, with gradual reductions implemented over time.
On the subject of sugar, Bonduelle indicated that almost all its products are naturally free of added sugars. When sugar is exceptionally added, it is for culinary reasons and strictly limited to a maximum of 2.5% of the product's total weight. The company has been reformulating recipes since 2008 to reduce added sugar and banned glucose-fructose syrup in new product development in 2011.
Bonduelle also provided details on its sourcing and sustainable development efforts, emphasizing the role of plant-based foods in consumer well-being and environmental responsibility.
