Bonduelle Clarifies Product Ingredients and Nutrition Policies
Bonduelle Group has published an FAQ and glossary to address consumer queries regarding product composition, including the use of salt, sugar, and preservatives.

BONDUELLE โ July 24, 2024 โ The Bonduelle Group has updated its website with a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and glossary section to provide clarity to consumers on the nutritional aspects and manufacturing processes of its products.
The updated section addresses, among other things, the use of preservatives in canned vegetables. The company assures that no preservatives are added to their canned vegetables. The process involves blanching the vegetables, placing them in hermetically sealed cans, and sterilizing them, which destroys germs and preserves the products without additional agents.
Bonduelle has also detailed its policy on salt addition. The company states that many of its products, particularly fresh bagged salads and basic frozen vegetables, contain no added salt. The salt content indicated on the label comes from the natural sodium content of the vegetables. For 'prepared' products, such as ready-made salads and stews, maximum salt thresholds have been implemented since 2008, with gradual reductions in salt levels.
Regarding sugar, Bonduelle emphasizes its commitment to healthy, plant-based options. Nearly all of its products naturally contain no added sugar. When sugar is exceptionally added for culinary reasons, its quantity is strictly limited to a maximum of 2.5% of the product's total weight, aligning with World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations. The company has also reformulated recipes to gradually reduce sugar content since 2008.
Furthermore, Bonduelle provides information on its nutrition policy and its support for school canteens with plant-based offerings. The company highlights its ongoing efforts to develop products with optimal nutritional profiles using simple, high-quality ingredients.
