Bonduelle Clarifies Product Nutrition and Sourcing in FAQ

Bonduelle Group has published a detailed FAQ and glossary to clarify information about its products, ingredients, and production methods. The section addresses specific concerns regarding nutrition for children in school canteens, Bonduelle's nutritional policy, and the use of preservatives, added salt, and sugar in its offerings.

The company emphasizes that its canned vegetables contain no preservatives. The process involves blanching the vegetables, sealing them in airtight containers, and then sterilizing them to eliminate any germs. Bonduelle also states that many of its products, such as fresh bagged salads and basic frozen vegetables, do not contain added salt. The salt content indicated on labels comes from the natural sodium present in the vegetables.

For prepared products, such as ready meals, Bonduelle has implemented maximum salt thresholds in its recipes since 2008 and has progressively reduced salt levels. Similarly, added sugar is strictly controlled, with a maximum limit of 2.5% of the product's total weight. The company notes that nearly all its products contain no added sugar, and when deviations occur, they are for culinary reasons.

Bonduelle also provides details on the sourcing of its products, stating a commitment to harvesting at full maturity from optimal growing regions throughout the year. The company aims to promote healthy, natural, plant-based eating in line with World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations.
