Bonduelle Addresses Product Nutrition in New FAQ
Bonduelle Group has launched a new section on its website dedicated to answering frequently asked questions about its products, with a particular focus on nutritional information and preparation. The initiative aims to provide clarity on the company's plant-based offerings.
The FAQ addresses consumer concerns regarding ingredients, confirming that Bonduelle's canned vegetables contain no preservatives. The company explains that the sterilization process used for canned goods eliminates germs without the need for additives, adhering to current regulations.
Bonduelle also provides details on its approach to salt and sugar content. For basic products like bagged salads and frozen vegetables, no salt is added; the sodium levels indicated on labels reflect the natural content of the vegetables themselves. For prepared items such as meal kits or canned vegetable dishes, maximum salt thresholds have been in place since 2008, with ongoing efforts to reduce levels.
Regarding sugar, Bonduelle states that most of its products contain no added sugar. When sugar is added for culinary reasons, it is limited to a maximum of 2.5% of the product's total weight, aligning with World Health Organization recommendations. The company has also been reformulating recipes since 2011 to progressively lower sugar content and has banned glucose-fructose syrup in new product development.
