Bonprix, an international fashion retailer, is advancing its commitment to corporate responsibility with the launch of its second "Sustainable Collection." The new line features more environmentally friendly materials and production methods integrated with contemporary styles. The company also announced a broader goal to utilize 70 percent sustainable fibers in all its textile products by the year 2025.

The second "Sustainable Collection" builds upon the first, incorporating high-quality sustainable materials such as recycled cotton, TENCEL™ Lyocell, cotton from the Cotton made in Africa initiative, organic cotton, and recycled polyester. This season's offerings include knitwear, cardigans, and jeans. A notable addition is the use of LENZING™ ECOVERO™, a viscose fiber that boasts a 50 percent reduction in water and emissions during manufacturing compared to conventional methods. For its jeans, bonprix has implemented a new laser process for achieving a "used" look, which also conserves water, while the dyeing process uses 15 percent less water than standard production.

Sustainability efforts extend to accessories. The collection's labels are made from recycled polyester or directly printed. Zippers feature recycled polyester tape, and buttons are produced using a resource-efficient method. A highlighted item is a parka made from recycled polyester, incorporating the equivalent of 25 half-liter PET bottles. Packaging continues to utilize polybags made from 100 percent recycled plastic.

"Our aspiration is to become even more sustainable with each Sustainable Collection, and I am proud of the results of our second collection," stated Rien Jansen, Managing Director of Purchasing, Marketing, and Retail at bonprix, who oversees the company's CR strategy. He emphasized that the company is not resting on its achievements and is committed to continuously evolving its products and operations toward greater responsibility.

Bonprix's ambitious target of 70 percent sustainable fibers by 2025 applies to all its textile articles, irrespective of brand or collection. Currently, the company already works with approximately 50 percent more environmentally compatible materials, primarily cotton, but progress is also being made with polyester, polyamide, and viscose. The plan is to gradually replace conventional fabrics with more sustainable alternatives, including organic and recycled cotton, recycled polyester, and to increasingly rely on certifications like GOTS and GRS.
