International fashion company bonprix reported a strong performance in the first half of its 2019/20 fiscal year, with a 11.7% increase in real revenue. On a comparable basis, the Otto Group company grew revenue by 3.3%, meeting its targets. This growth was achieved despite the integration of its Russian operations and challenges in the U.S. market.

Particularly strong growth was observed in Eastern European markets, including Poland and the Czech Republic, as well as in the Netherlands and Austria. The domestic German market also saw positive results, with revenue increasing by nearly 4%. Bonprix.de solidified its position as the second-highest grossing fashion webshop in Germany.

"We are extremely satisfied with the developments in Germany and Europe and look to the coming months with great confidence," stated Dr. Kai Heck, bonprix's Managing Director for Finance. He attributed the growth to targeted market and offering strategies and effective inventory management. The company's mobile-first strategy also showed success, with international demand via app and mobile webshops increasing by 25%.

To boost growth in the U.S., bonprix is increasing investment in digital marketing for its VENUS brand and adjusting shipping and return policies. The integration of the Russian business, previously part of Otto Group Russia, into the bonprix Group has expanded its real revenue volume and workforce to approximately 3,900 employees globally. Bonprix is now present in 30 countries worldwide.

Looking ahead, bonprix anticipates continued strong performance for the current fiscal year. The company plans to launch a webshop in Spain in early 2020 and is expanding its international reach through collaborations, such as with Lascana in Italy. Bonprix is also focusing on innovation, including its commitment to using 70% sustainable fibers by 2025 and developing its "fashion connect" new retail concept.
