Fashion company Bonprix has updated its "positive choice" sustainability strategy, aiming to increase the proportion of more responsibly produced clothing in its offerings across over 25 countries. The new targets, set through 2031, focus on greater use of preferred materials, applying circular design principles, and implementing climate-friendlier processes throughout the value chain.

The company is prioritizing transparency, with a goal for all essential products to feature a Digital Product Pass (DPP) by the end of the 2027/28 fiscal year. This pass will enable product traceability and provide information on material origin, environmental impact, and care instructions, assisting customers in making informed purchasing decisions.

Bonprix reports significant progress in its sustainability efforts. Currently, 70 percent of textile face materials consist of preferred fibers, including recycled materials and traceable cotton. The company has successfully piloted its circular design concept, which promotes product longevity and recyclability. Greenhouse gas emissions from the company's own operations have been reduced by 39 percent between 2018 and 2023.

The strategy update takes effect from the new fiscal year starting March 2025. Bonprix has already successfully tested a digital product pass, particularly for denim products, and plans to expand its use. The objective is for 70 percent of main materials to be sourced from preferred origins by the end of fiscal year 2031/32, eventually reaching 100 percent. Additionally, the company aims for four out of five products to be designed according to circular principles.
