The novel recounts the historical saga of Grace O'Malley, an Irish pirate queen known for her independence and defiance. Booksellers reportedly favored the title as a clear choice among their book clubs.
"After months of reading, recommending, and discussing this year's books, our booksellers named The Pirate Queen a clear favorite across the company's book clubs," said Kathy Gagliano, Executive Vice President of Merchandising at Books-A-Million. The book's themes of female strength and resilience are highlighted as reasons for its popularity.
Author Ariel Lawhon expressed her honor regarding the selection. The book is available in Books-A-Million stores and online, with the company also planning author events for the fall.
