Borr Drilling confirms fourth fatality in Gabon offshore rig incident
Recovery efforts continue for one remaining missing person after a stability incident on the Prospector 5 rig offshore Gabon resulted in four confirmed deaths.
Borr Drilling reported on November 2 that a fourth body has been recovered following an incident on its Prospector 5 rig offshore Gabon. The recovered individuals are currently being transported to Port Gentil, while search operations remain ongoing for one person who is still missing.
The company has engaged an independent classification society to lead an investigation into the cause of the rig's loss of stability. The review aims to determine the root cause of the incident while cooperating with regional authorities and regulatory bodies.
CEO Bruno Morand stated that the company is focused on supporting the affected families and its employees during the recovery efforts. He noted that the investigation will examine all available evidence to understand why the catastrophic loss of stability occurred.
