Bosch AI Fellow Dr. Liu Ren Honored with Executive of the Year Award

Dr. Liu Ren, senior vice president and AI fellow at Bosch Research and the Bosch Center for Artificial Intelligence (BCAI), has received the 2026 Executive of the Year Award from the Asian American Engineer of the Year (AAEOY) Award Executive Committee. The award acknowledges his visionary leadership in the field of industrial Artificial Intelligence (AI) research, particularly its application in mobility and manufacturing.

In his role as Bosch Research AI fellow, Dr. Ren shapes the company's AI research strategy across various industrial domains. His contributions have driven core innovations in areas such as foundation models, large language models, computer vision, and explainable AI. A key aspect of his work is translating advanced AI research into large-scale, real-world impact.

Under Dr. Ren's leadership, teams at Bosch have developed significant innovations addressing critical challenges in automated driving, manufacturing, automotive infotainment, and consumer products. These applications require AI operating with industrial-grade reliability, efficiency, and scale. Dr. Ren emphasized the importance of connecting AI to practical domains and engineering expertise.

"AI creates value when it is connected to real-world domains, strong engineering expertise, and the discipline to bring research into application," Dr. Liu Ren stated. "This award is also a recognition of the global teams at Bosch Research and in the Bosch business divisions. Together, we are working to make AI more reliable, scalable and useful for industrial applications, from automated driving to manufacturing."

Based at Bosch Research North America in Silicon Valley, Dr. Ren leads core AI development for Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS). His research has also advanced AI applications in manufacturing, enhancing the efficiency of numerous production lines through innovations in foundation models and analytics. He has authored over 70 publications and holds more than 70 Bosch patents in the AI field.
