Bosch receives $225 million from US Commerce Department for semiconductor production
Bosch is set to receive $225 million in direct funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce to support a $2 billion investment in semiconductor manufacturing in Roseville, California.

Roseville, Calif. – Bosch is poised to receive up to $225 million in direct funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce to support approximately a $2 billion investment aimed at transforming its Roseville, California facility for the production of silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors. The company has initiated sample production at the site, with commercial manufacturing slated to begin in 2026.
The funding is part of a broader U.S. government initiative to bolster the nation's semiconductor supply chain resilience and promote domestic manufacturing. The Roseville facility, which possesses over 40 years of semiconductor manufacturing experience, is undergoing a significant evolution to produce and test SiC semiconductors using state-of-the-art processes and equipment.
The investment aims to accelerate the time-to-market for new SiC-based chips by leveraging existing manufacturing expertise and infrastructure in Roseville. Bosch plans to invest a total of up to $7.5 billion in its U.S. operations through 2031.
Silicon carbide chips are becoming critical for electric vehicles and future mobility systems, as they efficiently handle higher voltages and temperatures, enabling longer ranges and faster charging for battery-electric vehicles. Bosch acquired the Roseville semiconductor fab in August 2023 and has since commenced the site's transformation.
