Bosch Researcher Donates German Future Prize Winnings to Youth Science Center
Robert Bosch GmbH researcher Kai Weeber has donated his 80,000 euro share of the German Future Prize to the AEROSPACE LAB youth research center in Herrenberg-Gäu. The funds will support a project focused on artificial intelligence.

HERRENBERG, Germany – Robert Bosch GmbH researcher Kai Weeber has donated his €80,000 share of the German Future Prize to the AEROSPACE LAB youth research center in Herrenberg-Gäu. Weeber, who won the 2025 German Future Prize for the development of a fuel cell drive system, is allocating his winnings to support the "KODEX" project.
The "KODEX" project, conducted in cooperation with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) Stuttgart, explores the role of agent-based artificial intelligence (AI) in digital design and engineering processes. This initiative allows pupils and students to investigate new forms of cooperative, AI-driven digital design and autonomous engineering.
"It is particularly important to me that young people come into contact with technologies and methods that will be crucial for the tasks of future engineers," Weeber stated. He is the second Bosch employee to donate his prize money. In late 2025, a three-person team from Bosch won the €250,000 German Future Prize for developing a fuel cell drive system for commercial vehicles.
The AEROSPACE LAB provides around 180 young people and 50 supervisors with opportunities to engage in engineering and science projects focused on aerospace, mobility, robotics, and resource efficiency. Donations like this assist the center in enhancing its infrastructure and expanding its capabilities to explore future-oriented topics such as AI.
