Bosch's North American History Marked by Resilience Over 110 Years
Robert Bosch GmbH established its presence in North America over 110 years ago. The company's operations faced setbacks twice due to world wars but were successfully rebuilt each time.

Robert Bosch GmbH has maintained a presence in North America for over 110 years. The company's journey in the region has been characterized by periods of significant growth punctuated by severe disruptions from both World Wars, each necessitating a complete rebuilding of its operations.
The company's initial foray into North America began in 1906 with the establishment of Robert Bosch New York, Inc. Early success in sales led to expansion across the United States and into Canada. However, the outbreak of World War I resulted in the expropriation of the U.S. Bosch company, forcing a laborious reconstruction of its business post-war.
A second major setback occurred during World War II, with another expropriation of the company's assets. Following the war, Bosch embarked on its third attempt at establishing a solid footing in North America. In Mexico, where agents had been marketing Bosch products since 1922, the company took over its representative in 1969, laying the groundwork for its current regional structure.
Bosch solidified its brand in Mexico partly through success in the 1952 Carrera Panamericana race with its spark plugs. In 1954, Robert Bosch (Canada) Ltd. was founded in Montreal to manage sales and service. In the U.S., business revival gained momentum in the 1950s, and significant investments and expansion plans throughout the 1960s and 1970s led to a tenfold increase in sales.
Bosch has since become a firmly established entity in North America, continuing to develop its operations and market presence across the continent.
