Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla has integrated AI into his daily professional routine, utilizing Anthropic’s Claude chatbot to refine his coaching methodologies. During a recent interview with 98.5 The Sports Hub, Mazzulla stated that he uses the software as a tool for self-audit rather than strategic play calling.

Mazzulla, who has led the Celtics to significant success over four seasons, uses the AI to examine his historical data, such as past practice schedules, to assess their efficiency. By prompting the model to evaluate whether his past actions aligned with his stated priorities, he aims to identify gaps between his intentions and his outcomes.

The approach serves as a mechanism to challenge his own perspective. Mazzulla noted that the tool helps him learn from his "former self," allowing for a more critical view of his management habits.

While the use of AI is becoming more prevalent in professional environments, Mazzulla maintains that the software does not make final decisions.
