Boston Towboat Teamsters Ratify Contract, End Strike
Teamsters Local 25 members at Boston Towing and Transportation Company have ratified a new contract, ending an eight-day strike. The dispute had impacted navigation for vessels in Boston Harbor.

Teamsters Local 25 members working for Boston Towing and Transportation Company have ratified a new contract, concluding an eight-day strike. The agreement was finalized shortly before the start of the Sail Boston festival, a major maritime event.
The unionized engineers, mechanics, and operators who operate the company's tugboats play a critical role in assisting ships, including historically significant vessels, in navigating Boston Harbor. The strike had raised concerns about potential disruptions to maritime traffic.
The newly ratified contract includes provisions for improved wages, enhanced working conditions, and a commitment to 100 percent employer-paid union health insurance. The resolution ensures the smooth operation of port activities during Sail Boston, which will feature more than 50 large vessels.
Teamsters Local 25 represents 13,000 members across New England and is affiliated with Teamsters Joint Council 10, covering the broader northeastern region.
