Bouygues Telecom and Vauban Infrastructure Partners have formalized a strategic memorandum of understanding aimed at ramping up the deployment of fibre optics in medium-dense and less-dense areas of France. This new agreement targets the financing and access for around 20 million premises by the year 2027.

Vauban Infra Fibre (VIF), Vauban's digital investment vehicle, will become the majority shareholder in SDFAST (Société de Développement de la Fibre Au Service des Territoires), a newly created company for this project. SDFAST's primary role will be to acquire long-term access rights to fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) lines from infrastructure operators, co-financing the roll-out.

The deal allows Bouygues Telecom to secure its access to FTTH lines nationwide. Simultaneously, VIF will strengthen its presence in the targeted areas. This expanded collaboration builds upon previous successes between Bouygues Telecom and Vauban, including the CityFast project (2018) and the SDAIF initiative (2020).

Gwenola Chambon, CEO of Vauban Infrastructure Partners, highlighted the firm's long-standing commitment to digital infrastructure investment in France. Steve Ledoux, Chairman of Vauban Infra Fibre, stated that this agreement positions Vauban Infra Fibre as France's leading independent FTTH platform, offering nationwide access through its subsidiaries.
