Brano Therapeutics Raises $6.8 Million for Heart Failure Therapies

Brano Therapeutics, a spin-off company from Duke-NUS Medical School, has raised US$6.8 million in seed funding to advance novel therapies for heart failure. The company is leveraging the school's scientific expertise and research platforms to accelerate the development of these treatments.

The seed round includes a US$380,000 commitment from Duke-NUS' LIVE Ventures, an early-stage innovation fund. This marks LIVE Ventures' first direct investment in a spin-off company, reflecting the school's confidence in Brano Therapeutics' strategy and science.

Professor Wang Yibin, Scientific Founder of Brano Therapeutics and Director of the Cardiovascular & Metabolic Disorders Programme at Duke-NUS, stated that their research has identified the failure of a specific nutrient processing pathway as a key factor in the development of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. Restoring this metabolic pathway could offer a promising new treatment approach.

Brano Therapeutics aims to translate these academic discoveries into clinical impact, focusing on developing new therapies for patients suffering from heart failure, particularly its preserved ejection fraction variant.
