Breakthrough T1D Congress Concludes, Highlighting Global Advances in Type 1 Diabetes Research
Breakthrough T1D, formerly JDRF, concluded its inaugural Clinical & Research Congress in Philadelphia, bringing together global experts to discuss the latest advancements and future directions in type 1 diabetes research and care.

Breakthrough T1D, the global organization for type 1 diabetes (T1D) research and advocacy, has concluded its first Clinical & Research Congress (CRC 2026) in Philadelphia. The event, held from October 9-11, 2026, convened leading clinicians, scientists, healthcare professionals, and advocates to discuss progress and challenges in T1D.
The congress featured over 80 sessions covering critical areas such as endocrinology, immunotherapies, emerging technologies like AI, cell therapies, and access to care. The primary goal was to foster collaboration and accelerate the path toward improving lives and finding a cure for T1D.
"Across the Congress, we looked at T1D from every angle: what we are learning about the disease, how that knowledge is shaping new treatments, and what people need from care today," stated Dr. Thomas Danne, Chief Medical Officer, International for Breakthrough T1D. "The most valuable discussions were the ones that connected those questions. That is how we make research more useful to the clinicians and communities it is meant to serve."
Breakthrough T1D announced that its second Clinical & Research Congress (CRC 2027) will take place in Washington, D.C., from October 15-17, 2027, building on the momentum from this year's event.
