Brian McNamara Appointed CEO Designate of New GSK Consumer Healthcare Company

GSK plc announced that Brian McNamara, current CEO of GSK Consumer Healthcare, has been appointed CEO Designate for the new independent consumer healthcare company that will be formed through a demerger in mid-2022. The separation plan requires shareholder approval.

The new company is expected to secure a premium listing on the London Stock Exchange. It will represent a significant player in the consumer health market, with 2020 sales exceeding £10 billion. Its portfolio includes well-known brands such as Sensodyne, Voltaren, Panadol, and Centrum, with strong market positions in the US and China.

Sir Jonathan Symonds, GSK Chairman, stated that McNamara's leadership and deep experience in fast-moving consumer goods and consumer health make him the right choice to lead the independent company. McNamara has been with GSK since 2015 and was instrumental in forming joint ventures with Novartis and Pfizer.

McNamara expressed his honor and confidence in the future of the independent company, highlighting its brands and potential for growth. A formal process to appoint a Chair and establish the Board of Directors for the new consumer health company is underway, with an expected Chair appointment in the second half of 2021.
