Brigham Nurses Return to Work After Lockout; Home Care Clinicians Continue Strike

Nurses at Brigham and Women's Hospital are set to return to caring for patients on Monday morning following the end of a week-long lockout. The lockout concluded early Monday.

Concurrently, Mass General Brigham (MGB) Home Care clinicians are continuing their seven-day strike through Sunday and Monday. The strike, which began last Tuesday, includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists.

Both the locked-out nurses and the striking Home Care clinicians have informed the Governor and MGB leadership of their readiness to negotiate until contract resolutions are achieved. The lockout specifically affected nurses at the Brigham hospital, while the Home Care strike targets MGB's home care services.

The nurses' labor action has centered on demands for improved working conditions, patient safety, and fair wages. Key issues raised include staffing levels and scheduling.

Upon the termination of the lockout, nurses are planning a brief rally at the hospital's main entrance before resuming their duties. The MGB Home Care strike is scheduled to conclude with a rally on Tuesday afternoon.
