Bright Minds Biosciences under investigation following FDA trial hold

Shares of Bright Minds Biosciences fell sharply following the FDA’s decision to place a partial clinical hold on its planned Phase 2 trial of BMB-101. The regulatory agency cited toxicity findings in mice, insufficient pharmacokinetic data, and a lack of data regarding juvenile toxicity as primary reasons for the suspension of the epilepsy study.

The trial was designed to evaluate the drug candidate in patients with epilepsy and developmental and epileptic encephalopathies, specifically targeting pediatric enrollment. While Bright Minds has publicly disputed the FDA’s interpretation of the preclinical toxicity findings, the company acknowledged that the hold introduces uncertainty regarding the development timeline and may necessitate further data collection or additional studies.

In response to the resulting financial losses for shareholders, the law firm Levi & Korsinsky has launched an investigation into potential securities law violations. The probe centers on whether the company provided adequate disclosure regarding the regulatory risks and safety data supporting the BMB-101 program prior to the clinical hold.
