Brii Biosciences Reports Phase 2 Data for Hepatitis B Treatment BRII-179
Brii Biosciences presented new Phase 2 data at the 2026 AASLD meeting, indicating that the immunotherapy candidate BRII-179 may enhance immune responses in patients with chronic hepatitis B.
Brii Biosciences released findings from five Phase 2 clinical trials, including the ENRICH and ENHANCE studies, at the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) 2026 conference. The data evaluated the efficacy of BRII-179 as a priming agent to improve the outcomes of siRNA-based therapies targeting hepatitis B virus (HBV).
The results suggest that the therapeutic vaccine can stimulate HBV-specific immune responses. Researchers observed that the priming strategy improved functional cure rates when combined with existing treatments, a critical metric for long-term viral control.
The development of functional cures for chronic HBV remains a significant hurdle in hepatology. By focusing on immunomodulation, Brii Biosciences aims to move beyond traditional viral suppression, though the company must still navigate larger Phase 3 trials to demonstrate long-term safety and clinical benefit.
Moving forward, the company intends to utilize these Phase 2 findings to refine its strategy for future combination therapies. The trial data serves as the foundation for the next stage of clinical development for the BRII-179 candidate.
