Brisbane 2032 Olympics logo combines cockatoo, torch, and year

The emblem for the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Brisbane, Australia, has been unveiled, updating a familiar symbol with multiple layers of meaning. The design was accidentally leaked online prior to its official release.

The logo combines elements referencing the Olympic torch with five flames, while also depicting the crest of a cockatoo, a bird native to the region and significant to Indigenous Australians. This integration aims to represent the unique character of the Brisbane Games.

Further detail is embedded in the design, with five feathers grouped in threes and twos, symbolizing the year '32. The crest's shape is also specifically designed to fit within the map of Queensland, the Australian state where Brisbane is the capital.

Two colorways have been developed: a pink and orange version for the Olympics, inspired by the pink cockatoo, and a gradient from yellow to pink for the Paralympics, representing the sulphur-crested cockatoo. Brisbane will be the third Australian city to host the Games, following Melbourne in 1956 and Sydney in 2000.
