Brokerage Firm Alpaca Secures Singapore License Approval

New York-based brokerage and clearing infrastructure provider Alpaca announced its Singapore unit, Alpaca Securities Pte. Ltd., has received in-principle approval from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) for a capital markets services license. This approval signifies a key step towards offering brokerage and custodial services within Singapore.

The company stated that the approval supports its strategic expansion into Southeast Asia through a locally regulated entity. Alpaca aims to serve financial institutions in the region by operating under Singapore's established regulatory framework. The final license is contingent on MAS's conclusive decision.

The Monetary Authority of Singapore has clarified that an in-principle approval is not a granted license and can be rescinded. Alpaca has indicated that it will commence offering brokerage and custodial services only after obtaining the definitive license. This move is part of Alpaca's broader international expansion, which previously included extending regulated investment services across 29 European Economic Area countries.
