Buldak Noodle Sales Halted in Reykjavik Over Contaminant Detection
Dai Phat Trading ehf. has ceased sales and initiated a consumer recall of Buldak instant noodles in Reykjavik. The product was found to contain 3-MCPD and glycidyl fatty acid esters.
Dai Phat Trading ehf., in coordination with Reykjavík Public Health, has stopped sales and issued a consumer recall for Buldak "Spicy ramen hot chicken flavour cup carbonara" noodles. The action follows the detection of contaminants within the product.
The recall is due to the presence of 3-MCPD and glycidyl fatty acid esters. The health authority indicated that 3-MCPD is classified as a possible carcinogen and has been linked to kidney damage.
The affected product is Buldak brand "Spicy ramen hot chicken flavour cup (instant noodles carbonara flavour)" with a best before date of 28/08/2026. It has a barcode of 4045802737972, lot number H W3, and a net weight of 80g. The noodles are manufactured by Samyang Foods Co., Ltd. in South Korea.
Consumers who have purchased this product are advised not to consume it. They can dispose of it or return it to the store of purchase for a full refund. Dai Phat Trading ehf. is located at Faxafen 14, 108 Reykjavík. Distribution was limited to their Asian supermarket.
