Bungie to test PvE mode in Marathon game
Bungie will launch an experimental PvE mode called "Break the Vault" for its upcoming game "Marathon" on July 22. The mode will run until August 18 and aims to gather player feedback.

Bungie, the developer behind "Marathon," announced it will introduce an experimental Player vs. Environment (PvE) mode named "Break the Vault" on July 22. This mode will be part of the game's Season 2 mid-season update and will operate until August 18. The studio is actively seeking player input and data from this limited test to refine future PvE content.
The "Break the Vault" mode is designed as a light roguelike PvE experience set within a low-temperature archive. Players will face progressively challenging vaults, with the objective of acquiring vault data. This data can be used to upgrade sponsor packages and unlock new equipment within the "Break the Vault" arsenal.
Resources and items obtained in "Break the Vault" can be brought back into other adventures within "Marathon." This initiative represents Bungie's effort to gather crucial feedback and data, using this experimental phase to inform the development of a more robust PvE mode planned for Season 3. The focus is on iterating based on player experience before a full release.
