Bureau Veritas Acquires Shenzhen Total-Test to Expand Food Safety Market in China

Neuilly-sur-Seine, France – April 18, 2019 – Bureau Veritas, a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification services, announced today the acquisition of Shenzhen Total-Test Technology Co., Ltd. (Shenzhen Total-Test), a significant player in China's food testing sector.

Founded in 2008 and based in Shenzhen, Shenzhen Total-Test offers comprehensive food testing services across more than 30 product categories, including agricultural products, food additives, baby food, and animal feed. The company reported revenues of approximately €10 million in 2018 and employs around 340 individuals.

The growing demand for food safety and quality in China is driving increased regulation and a need for conformity services. Shenzhen Total-Test's expertise and client base are expected to complement Bureau Veritas' existing capabilities in food and agricultural commodity testing, inspection, and certification within mainland China. The acquired entity will serve as Bureau Veritas' food testing hub for Southern China.

This acquisition increases Bureau Veritas' workforce in China to over 15,000 employees, making it the company's largest country by staff numbers. The deal also enhances Bureau Veritas' global network of food testing laboratories, which now totals over 75 facilities worldwide.
