Bureau Veritas Launches AI Assessment Service for European Businesses
Bureau Veritas has launched an independent AI assessment service for European enterprises to help them comply with the EU's AI Act. The offering is developed in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Bureau Veritas, a global leader in Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) services, has introduced a new AI system audit service aimed at European businesses. This offering is designed to assist companies in assessing and demonstrating their compliance with the European Union's "AI Act" regulations. The service integrates on-site audits, document analysis, and direct testing to produce an independent maturity report for clients.
The launch addresses significant implementation challenges faced by companies since the EU's AI regulation came into effect. A notable percentage of businesses report difficulties in interpreting the law and establishing the necessary governance structures for compliance, with non-compliance potentially leading to substantial financial penalties. Bureau Veritas developed this audit to help organizations identify and rectify these compliance gaps.
The assessment process includes a pre-audit phase, a review of documentation, an on-site audit, and direct testing. It culminates in a report detailing the client's AI maturity across eight standardized pillars. These pillars cover key risk areas such as security, robustness, data privacy, governance, fairness, explainability, controllability, and transparency.
To develop this offering, Bureau Veritas partnered with AWS AI Risk Intelligence (AIRI), an automated governance solution created by the AWS Generative AI Innovation Center. AIRI significantly speeds up the audit cycle by automating document reviews and direct testing, reducing the process from weeks to days. The service is set to deploy in France, the UK, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, and Nordic countries starting in the second quarter of 2026, with plans for global expansion.
