Bureau Veritas launches digital app for Port State Control readiness
Bureau Veritas has expanded its digital portfolio with the launch of 'PSC Ready', a new application designed to help ship crews prepare for Port State Control inspections.

Classification society Bureau Veritas has enhanced its digital offerings with the introduction of 'PSC Ready', an application aimed at assisting ship crews in their preparations for Port State Control (PSC) inspections. The move, announced in April 2018, seeks to streamline a critical aspect of maritime operations.
The 'PSC Ready' application is a secure, cloud-based tool accessible via mobile devices (iOS and Android) and desktop. It is designed to help shipowners ensure compliance with the stringent requirements of PSC inspections. Benefits include enhanced crew awareness of safety, environmental, and employment regulations, as well as proper maintenance of ship structures and equipment.
Laurent Leblanc, Vice President and Marine Operations Director at Bureau Veritas, stated that the application provides a practical digital solution for managing PSC planning and performance. "This application provides the most up-to-date route to manage PSC planning and performance, enabling data and best practice to be shared on-board and across fleets," Leblanc explained. He highlighted that PSC inspections are a significant operational factor for shipowners, with potential for unexpected losses in time and cost.
Key features of 'PSC Ready' include improving global PSC performance by training crews to detect, correct, and avoid deficiencies. It also provides access to statistics, data, and news on PSC developments. Recognizing the challenges of connectivity at sea, the app includes an 'Check offline, report online' functionality.
The application was developed based on feedback from pilot projects with shipowners worldwide and is available for download on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
