Burger King President: GLP-1 Drugs Will Significantly Impact Fast Food
Burger King's President Tom Curtis stated that the increasing use of GLP-1 medications will profoundly affect the fast-food industry. The chain is already testing new menu items to adapt to shifting consumer appetites.

Burger King is preparing for a future where consumers may eat less, according to company President Tom Curtis. In a recent interview, Curtis indicated that the growing trend of GLP-1 medication usage is poised to have a significant impact on the fast-food sector.
The chain is actively testing new offerings, such as "Whopper Bites" and protein-focused bowls, to cater to evolving dietary habits. Industry analyses suggest that the widespread adoption of GLP-1 drugs could lead to substantial revenue reductions in the food and beverage market.
Data supports these concerns, with a Gallup poll revealing that 11% of U.S. adults are currently using GLP-1 medications, a nearly fourfold increase over two years. Additionally, a National Restaurant Association survey found that nearly half of GLP-1 users have reduced their dining-out frequency.
While sales of the signature Whopper remain robust, Burger King is also focusing on its $2 billion "Reclaim the Flame" turnaround initiative. This strategy has already shown positive results, contributing to a 5.8% increase in same-store sales last quarter, reversing a prior year's decline.
