Burma Burma Parent Reports 31-Fold Surge in FY26 Loss

Hunger Pangs Limited, the parent company of the vegetarian restaurant chain Burma Burma, has reported a significant increase in its net loss for the fiscal year 2025-26 (FY26). The company's net loss surged by nearly 31 times to ₹15.4 crore, a sharp rise from ₹50 lakh in the previous fiscal year. This financial downturn occurred despite a substantial increase in revenue.

Burma Burma's revenue from operations grew by 46.6% to ₹155.5 crore in FY26, up from ₹106.1 crore in FY25. Including other income of ₹1.5 crore, the total income reached ₹157 crore. The company's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) also saw a rise of 20.2%, reaching ₹25.7 crore in FY26, indicating operational growth.

The company's total expenses increased significantly by 61.8% year-on-year to ₹175.8 crore in FY26. Key cost drivers included employee benefits, which rose 53.3% to ₹50.7 crore, and the cost of materials consumed, up 51% to ₹30.4 crore. Finance costs and other expenses also saw considerable increases.

Founded in 2013, Burma Burma operates 22 restaurants across nine cities in India. The hospitality chain is planning an expansion, with intentions to open 27 new company-owned outlets by FY29, funded partly by a proposed IPO. Hunger Pangs also disclosed plans to launch a new Japanese cuisine restaurant brand.
