Business Owners Must Manage Employee AI Use
Employees are increasingly using AI tools for work tasks. Business owners now need to focus on how to manage and oversee this adoption effectively.

Employees are actively integrating AI tools into their daily work, from drafting emails to analyzing data and researching competitors. The focus for business owners is shifting from whether AI should be used to how its usage is managed.
A recent KPMG survey found that 87% of U.S. workers use AI at least weekly, while a separate global study revealed that 44% of employees have used AI without their employer's explicit permission.
It is crucial for businesses to address six key questions regarding AI implementation: Who is using AI? For what purpose? How are they using it? What company, customer, or employee data is being input? Who reviews the output? Who owns the result?
AI usage can be categorized into three levels: Green (use freely), Amber (use with human oversight), and Red (do not delegate to AI). This framework helps ensure responsible and secure AI adoption within organizations.
