Bybit Introduces Stock Trading for Global Users

Dubai-based cryptocurrency exchange Bybit has expanded its services to include trading in U.S.-listed stocks and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs). The platform, serving over 80 million users worldwide, now offers eligible users access to over 1,000 companies' shares, including major names like Apple, NVIDIA, and Tesla.

This move represents a significant expansion from Bybit's previous focus primarily on digital assets. The stock trading feature allows users to buy and sell U.S. stocks and ETFs using USDC, a stablecoin. This provides investors with direct economic exposure to the underlying securities.

Bybit co-founder and CEO Ben Zhou described the introduction of stocks as a key development for its financial platform. "Financial markets have long been siloed between different products and platforms, but users are asking for a more connected experience," Zhou stated. "By bringing stocks to Bybit, we are not just adding a new asset class; we are providing broader access to financial markets and greater freedom to capture opportunities."

The stock trading is facilitated through Bybit's regulated brokerage infrastructure and executed via Alpaca, a U.S. broker-dealer. Alpaca also handles the custody of the underlying securities. Bybit highlights that the trading is commission-free and allows for fractional share trading. The platform also supports dividend payouts and stock splits.
