BYD and vivo partner to integrate AI across vehicles and mobile devices
Automaker BYD and technology firm vivo have entered a strategic partnership to link smartphone AI capabilities with vehicle operating systems.
Chinese automaker BYD and smartphone manufacturer vivo announced a strategic partnership on November 5 aimed at integrating AI agents across mobile devices and vehicle systems. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between automotive software and consumer electronics through deeper ecosystem collaboration.
The two companies have been collaborating since 2019, initially focusing on basic connectivity and digital car key integration. The new phase of the partnership intends to move beyond simple interface mirroring to unified AI functionality, allowing for more streamlined interaction between the user's phone and the vehicle cabin.
The automotive industry is increasingly shifting toward software-defined vehicles, driving competition among manufacturers to secure partnerships with smartphone giants. This deal follows the 2023 integration of vivo’s OriginOS into BYD vehicles, which enabled screen casting and basic interoperability features.
