BYD Qin PLUS DM-i Scheduled for Release with New Front Design, Optional LiDAR
Chinese automaker BYD Auto has submitted its updated Qin PLUS DM-i plug-in hybrid sedan for regulatory approval. The new model features a redesigned front fascia and an optional lidar sensor.

BYD Auto, a prominent Chinese automotive manufacturer, has officially filed details for its updated Qin PLUS DM-i plug-in hybrid sedan with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The upcoming model showcases a significantly revised front-end design, adopting a cleaner aesthetic that moves away from traditional grilles, aligning it more closely with the appearance of the company's electric vehicles.
The car measures 4,840 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,498 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. Two variants of the plug-in hybrid sedan have been registered, primarily differing in curb weight and gross vehicle weight. Both models are powered by a 1.5-liter engine producing 74 kW, coupled with an electric motor delivering a peak output of 120 kW.
A notable addition to the optional features is a lidar sensor, indicated by a housing on the roofline. This suggests an upgrade in the vehicle's advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) capabilities. Other optional exterior elements include sunroofs, different wheel rim designs, and various decorative trims.
The Qin PLUS DM-i utilizes a lithium iron phosphate battery pack. The vehicle is also equipped with an Event Data Recorder (EDR) system and offers options for ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) devices. This submission marks a significant step towards the market release of the refreshed hybrid sedan.
BYD Auto has been a major player in China's new energy vehicle market, with the Qin PLUS DM-i series being a strong contributor to its sales figures. The latest updates are expected to enhance its appeal and competitiveness in the segment.
