BYD reports 11% sales growth in October amid export surge
BYD vehicle sales reached 490,168 units in October as international shipments rose, helping the company offset stagnant domestic demand.

BYD’s total vehicle sales for October rose by 11% year-on-year, totaling 490,168 units. The growth was largely driven by overseas expansion, with international shipments jumping 102.8% to 170,194 units. This shift in volume has proven essential as the company faces cooling consumer demand and aggressive price competition within the Chinese market.
Brazil has emerged as a critical destination for the automaker, serving as a primary outlet for its passenger vehicle exports. However, the international growth strategy faces potential headwinds in Europe following a recent trade understanding between China and the EU that restricts the export of hybrid vehicles to the bloc.
To navigate these trade barriers, BYD has begun trial production at its manufacturing plant in Hungary. The company intends to transition to mass production at the facility by the fourth quarter of 2026 to maintain its position in the European market.
