Chinese automaker BYD has unveiled the interior of its new Sea Lion 08 model, showcasing its design and features ahead of its official market launch on September 2. The SUV will offer buyers a choice between a five-seat or a six-seat layout, and will be available in both fully electric and plug-in hybrid variants.

The exterior of the Sea Lion 08 draws inspiration from BYD's Ocean S concept car. Inside, the focus is on a luxurious and minimalist aesthetic, featuring a light beige interior theme with soft leather materials and decorative panels with mother-of-pearl patterns. The dashboard is equipped with a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch adaptive rotating central touchscreen.

The five-seat version includes leg rests on the outer rear seats, with storage space located beneath the middle seat. The six-seat configuration adopts a 2+2+2 layout, featuring two individual "captain's chairs" in the second row, complete with armrests, electric adjustments, and leg rests. The six-seat model also comes equipped with a large roof-mounted entertainment screen, a cooling and heating refrigerator, and a three-zone independent automatic climate control system.

Powertrain options for the Sea Lion 08 include BYD's fifth-generation DM plug-in hybrid technology, which pairs a 1.5T engine with electric motors. Buyers can choose between single-motor and dual-motor versions, with the plug-in hybrid offering an electric-only range of 400 kilometers under CLTC conditions.

The fully electric version will also offer single-motor and dual-motor configurations. The top-tier dual-motor setup delivers 215 kW at the front and 370 kW at the rear. Battery options are 92.093 kWh and 115.072 kWh, providing CLTC ranges of 710 km, 800 km, and up to 900 km. The vehicle also incorporates fast-charging capabilities, an intelligent body control system, dual-chamber air suspension with road preview, and rear-wheel steering.
