BYD to Debut First Humanoid Robot in Early August

Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD is set to unveil its first humanoid robot in early August, according to a teaser poster released by the company. This debut points to BYD's strategic ambitions to enter the burgeoning robotics market.

BYD executives have previously signaled the company's interest in robotics. Last month, Executive Vice President Li Ke stated the company's intention to eventually deploy humanoid robots within its extensive dealership network. The proposed use cases include customer interaction, vehicle introductions, and product demonstrations.

Li indicated that robots designed for domestic and service industry applications represent a significant potential growth area for BYD. He outlined a goal of deploying multiple robots at each dealership to enhance customer engagement and assist with sales.

According to Li, the commercial viability of such robotic sales assistants could be realized within the next one to two years, suggesting a focused timeline for market entry and development.
