BYD to Expand European Production Following EU-China Trade Talks
BYD announced plans to increase its European manufacturing presence following trade discussions between China and the EU. The talks reportedly fostered a more stable environment for hybrid vehicle trade.
Automaker BYD has announced plans to expand its manufacturing investments in Europe, following the second round of EU-China trade and investment mechanism consultations. The company stated that the outcomes of these talks have created a stable, predictable, and sustainable cooperation environment, particularly for hybrid vehicle trade.
According to BYD, the consultations have effectively managed trade differences and prevented escalation of friction. The company emphasized that the results consider the current industrial realities and concerns of both Chinese and European sectors.
BYD is already proceeding with significant European investments. Its Hungarian factory is scheduled to begin large-scale production in the fourth quarter of this year. Furthermore, BYD plans to establish a second and third manufacturing plant in Europe, with France reportedly being a candidate location.
In September 2026, BYD reported exporting 180,700 new energy vehicles. The company reiterated its commitment to technological innovation and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
