BYD updates Yangwang U8 with Apple CarPlay support and enhanced security features

BYD has initiated an over-the-air (OTA) software update for the Yangwang U8 model range, covering the 2023 Luxury, 2024 Off-road Player, and 2026 Luxury editions. The update focuses on vehicle connectivity, cabin interface adjustments, and safety system optimizations.

A key addition is the official integration of Apple CarPlay, which now operates in a side-window format to allow for multitasking alongside native vehicle systems. The vehicle’s 'Sentry Mode' has also been upgraded, allowing users to schedule activation times and designate 'trusted locations' where the monitoring system remains dormant to conserve battery life.

Safety improvements include new exterior audio alerts if doors or the trunk are left open during automated parking, and speed warnings for cornering. The update also enhances the vehicle's interior interface, featuring improved memory settings for the 'Yisifang' control system and new customizable display widgets to streamline driver access to information while in motion.
