BYD's Denza to Roll Out European City Driving Assistance for Z9GT in 2027

BYD's premium brand, Denza, intends to launch its urban navigation assistance system in Europe through an over-the-air update in 2027. The initial rollout will feature the Z9GT grand tourer. The company officially announced the planned upgrade to its God's Eye driver-assistance system at the Paris Motor Show on October 12.

The system, designated City Navigation on Driving Assistant, is designed to manage point-to-point urban routes. Its capabilities include stopping for red lights, yielding at roundabouts, adhering to speed limits, and changing lanes to navigate around obstacles like double-parked vehicles. Denza stated that the necessary hardware is already integrated into the Z9GT model.

Software calibration and adaptation for European conditions are reportedly in advanced stages. Following this, Denza will seek approval under UN Regulation No. 171. The system will require drivers to maintain monitoring of their gaze, head position, and hands on the steering wheel.

This development reflects a broader trend in the automotive industry towards enhanced driver assistance technologies in urban environments, aiming to improve safety and reduce driver burden in complex traffic scenarios.
