BYD's Racco Electric Car Receives Over 700 Orders in Japan

Chinese automaker BYD has reported that its Racco electric car, specifically developed for the Japanese market, has garnered more than 700 orders since its launch on July 28.

The Racco enters Japan's popular kei-car segment, known for its small, fuel-efficient vehicles. BYD aims to capture this market with a model tailored to its requirements.

While initial sales figures for the first four days indicated 125 units sold, BYD clarified that the majority of these were dealer-registered vehicles intended for test drives. The company stated that the order count better reflects actual demand.

BYD is also focused on expanding its distribution network in Japan. The automaker plans to grow its current network of approximately 80 dealerships to 100 by the end of 2026 and to 120 by the end of 2027.
