Chinese automaker BYD announced on September 15 that its fleet of vehicles equipped with semi-autonomous driving systems has surpassed 3.72 million units as of August 31, 2026.

In August 2026 alone, 201,533 such vehicles were sold. BYD's semi-autonomous driving system, branded as "Heavenly Eye," generates over 230 million kilometers of driving data daily.

The vehicles classified as semi-autonomous include BYD's own models equipped with the "Heavenly Eye" system and those utilizing Huawei's Kunlun Zhi Jia driving system. BYD's total passenger vehicle sales in August 2026 reached 433,000 units, marking an increase from the previous year.

BYD is a major global manufacturer of electric and hybrid vehicles. The company has been investing heavily in autonomous driving technologies. The accumulation of driving data is considered crucial for enhancing the performance and safety of these systems over time.
