BYD's Xi'an Battery Plant Operational

BYD Auto has fully commenced operations at its new energy vehicle battery manufacturing plant in Xi'an, China. Located in the Xixian New Area, the facility is positioned as a core battery hub for the company's northwestern operations and marks a new phase for the intelligent connected vehicle industry in the region.

The Xi'an plant is one of the initial production bases for BYD's second-generation Blade Battery technology and a key site for the mass production of its fast-charging technology. The facility integrates the entire manufacturing process, from electrode preparation and cell formation to module assembly, battery pack integration, and system testing, utilizing an MES intelligent manufacturing system for efficient and automated production.

The plant's operation provides localized core battery support for BYD's vehicle manufacturing in Xi'an, further refining the regional new energy vehicle industry chain. The project saw rapid development, with the time from signing to production taking only 10 months.

BYD has previously stated that the monthly production capacity for the second-generation Blade Battery is steadily increasing and is expected to ramp up further in the second half of 2026 to meet market demand. The company is also expanding production lines to match a strong order book for its fast-charging vehicle models.
