ByteDance Denies Reports of Entering Smart Driving Business
Chinese technology conglomerate ByteDance has refuted media claims suggesting plans to enter the smart driving sector. The company stated it is researching frontier AI technologies but has no immediate plans for a smart driving business.

ByteDance, the Chinese technology giant, has denied recent media reports indicating the company's intention to enter the smart driving industry. These reports suggested a focus on driverless logistics operations, potentially under its cloud division, Volcano Engine.
In response to inquiries from China Star Market, ByteDance clarified its position. The company confirmed that it is engaged in early-stage research and exploration into advanced AI technologies, such as "Physical AI" large models.
However, ByteDance explicitly stated that it does not have plans to develop a dedicated smart driving business. This statement serves to correct reports suggesting a significant strategic pivot into the automotive technology sector.
The company's focus remains on its existing ventures, while exploring cutting-edge AI developments without immediate commercial application in the automotive field.
