ByteDance Explores Autonomous Driving for Unmanned Logistics
ByteDance is reportedly exploring autonomous driving technology for unmanned logistics, according to Chinese media. The company's AI research unit is involved, though ByteDance denies plans for a smart driving business.

Chinese technology giant ByteDance is investigating the application of autonomous driving technology for unmanned logistics operations. The exploration is being conducted by the world model team within Seed, ByteDance's artificial intelligence research division, according to reports from Chinese media outlets.
The project is said to be in its early stages and is purportedly linked to Volcengine, a cloud services provider associated with ByteDance, and its focus on the automotive industry. ByteDance has acknowledged that its large model research encompasses initial investigations into physical AI.
However, the company explicitly stated that it has no current plans to establish a business focused on smart driving solutions. This suggests the exploration may be aimed at understanding the technology's potential for internal use or for broader AI development rather than immediate commercialization in the autonomous vehicle sector.
